Our website is a digital space for collaboration about physical space. We invite you to participate  in the creation of knowledge designed to secure greater public use of New York City’s 525 or so POPS, those zoning-created plazas, arcades, and other outdoor and indoor privately owned public spaces. Here is an archive of comments from visitors like you.

John Bacon on 40 Rector Street:
as of March 2017, space is once again open plaza and soon to be the public entrance to the China Institute; the poles now sport China Institute banners
Ethan on 875 Third Avenue:
If the Atrium at 875 is a public space and open to persons with disabilities, then why did you install ANTI-HOMELESS SPIKES? It is appalling that APOPS is using hostile architecture to deter those who are in need.
will on 118 West 57th Street | Le Parker Meridien:
in the through block arcade connecting to the 57th st, the servers stationed at the "knave" bar within the arcade is asking people to either buy something or leave, even thogough it is clearly labeled as a public space, with the sign clearly on the door leading to the area.
Ellen Hacker on 590 Madison Avenue:
Hello, My name is Ellen Hacker and I am writing to you on behalf of Bexley High School Choir from Bexley, OH. This 35-person ensemble is traveling to NYC in March and is interested in performing at the Madison Ave Atrium on 3/20. Is this something you could help me arrange? Thank you for your help I look forward to hearing from you.

Arya Stark on 153 East 53rd Street | Citigroup Center:
Closed until 2018 for renovations.
Joel on 875 Third Avenue:
The POPS sign say hours on weekdays are until 11:00 pm but we were kicked out for "closing time" at 8:00 pm today, 2/7/17, a Tuesday. The doors were then locked.
Ian on 1 Central Park West:
Owner has completely closed space to all public access in violation of 24 hour access requirement.
Edward on 153 East 53rd Street | Citigroup Center:
I have heard over this week that this POPS will be closing on Sunday, 1/15/17, for not less than three years. Can you confirm this?
APOPS on 120 Park Avenue:
Thanks for the information. This POPS used to be one of the best indoor spaces in the city. The George Segal sculptures still resonate. But in recent years it has lost its luster. Yes, where is the Whitney branch, missing for years and years? Perhaps the changes across the street on Vanderbilt Avenue and the impending East Midtown rezoning will create momentum to upgrade this underperforming POPS. After allow, millions of dollars later, the David Rubenstein Atrium at the Lincoln Center campus went from also-ran to one of the best.
