Our website is a digital space for collaboration about physical space. We invite you to participate  in the creation of knowledge designed to secure greater public use of New York City’s 525 or so POPS, those zoning-created plazas, arcades, and other outdoor and indoor privately owned public spaces. Here is an archive of comments from visitors like you.

David Salter on 525 East 72nd Street:
The park exceeds the minimum requirements for a few amenities. I'm counting: 4 trash cans (vs. the required 2) 8 tables (vs. the required 7) At least 34 chairs (vs. the required 28) As the profile mentions, 14 trees (vs. the required 12) All in all, if the wind weren't whipping fiercely through here at the moment, a very pleasant space to sit and work al fresco.
roggie on 108 Fifth Avenue:
They are still doing construction and there are still no amenities.
roggie on 60 East 8th Street:
A depressing space, ugly and uninviting. 11,000 square feet and no seats? A textbook example on how not to build a public space, or rather, on how to build a public space to keep the public away.
nanya on 166 East 34th Street:
I've frequently been tempted to bring drinks, snacks and a book and camp out at one of the tables just to see if Caliente Cab Co would try to make me leave.
nanya on 325 Fifth Avenue:
Three years since my last comment. The space is still closed.
Peter on 325 Fifth Avenue:
This space has been closed for literally years and it's clearly their intention never to see it open to the public again. Infuriating.
Eileen on 535 Madison Avenue:
From 535 Madison's site (535mad.com), significant improvements to an already vibrant POPS: "Renovation of the adjacent outdoor plaza includes flowering trees, ivy plantings and open seating for year-round enjoyment. Changing seasons will bring new Christie's selections of sculptures handpicked from their future sales collections long before they reach the auction block."
Eileen on 685 Third Avenue:
685 Third Avenue's site promotes their capital improvements, including their "new one-of-a-kind pocket park." You can see a picture here after clicking on "capital improvements" on the top left http://www.685thirdavenue.com/home.shtml
Eileen Schneidman on 650 West 42nd Street:
We walked by 650 West 42nd Street a few days ago and were immediately drawn to the playground/sculpture at its center. It's a wonderful piece by artist Tom Otterness. Nice to see that the building's web site features their POPS as an amenity http://www.riverplacenyc.com/nyc-apartments-amenities/pet-run-and-park/
Christina Crowl on 3 United Nations Plaza:
I am a resident of the neighborhood where this POPS is located. There is a bike rack on the property of the POPS, I was told by a Unicef employee that is was for Unicef Employee use only and that the property manager had the right to cut my lock if my bike was found to be locked there. I would like to know my rights around this issue. Thank you. Best, Christina
