Our website is a digital space for collaboration about physical space. We invite you to participate  in the creation of knowledge designed to secure greater public use of New York City’s 525 or so POPS, those zoning-created plazas, arcades, and other outdoor and indoor privately owned public spaces. Here is an archive of comments from visitors like you.

CCC on 7 Hanover Square:
There is no POPS sign. It looks like a private enclosed food court
Molly on 325 Fifth Avenue:
This site is never open. In 2020 it was built up as a nice looking outdoor seating area (still visible on Google street view) but the gate was never unlocked. The site is still completely blocked off by a locked chainlink fence but is now demolished.
matt on 845 First Avenue:
View from 49th Street.
matt on 845 First Avenue:
I have a similar question. 845 First Avenue has a large private plaza at the rear of the L-shaped parcel, on East 49th Street. How is this NOT part of the POPS calculation? Was it purchased later?
Hanif on 639 West 59th Street:
Interactive fountain and grassy seating areas by the water.
Ada Rustow on 343 Gold Street:
This mid-size residential plaza boasts several benches as well as landscaping including large trees that offer shade.
Ada Rustow on 343 Gold Street:
Well located and accessible but with limited greenery. Went in the winter and many of the seats had been cordoned off.
Ada Rustow on 111 Murray Street:
This POPS is beautiful at night, well lit, and with an active water feature.
Mark Pine on 153 East 53rd Street | Citigroup Center:
Greetings, those were the great old days. I'm here now. It's nowhere near as packed as that now. Could you imagine? These days. I hope those days come back one day.
Lloyd C. Bishop on 180 Maiden Lane:
The bathrooms at the180 Maiden Lane POP are locked. Shouldn’t they be open? Can you inquire and enforce? The space is a pleasant place to get some work done, but the lack of the required public restroom diminishes public use.
